A number of pupils at a school near Rustenburg have been admitted to hospital after they fainted at school on Friday, the North West department of education said.
Spokesman Charles Raseala said it was not known what caused the children to faint at Sekete High School in Kanana
"We are still awaiting report from the region," he said.
Pastor Manas Kabelo of Life Changers Church said pupils claimed to have seen dwarf-like creatures entering classrooms.
"They screamed and collapsed," he said.
Kabelo said church ministers prayed at the school and peace was restored.
He said the creatures were demons, considering that only children were able to see them.
"Children screamed more as we prayed, because the demons were leaving the school," Kabelo said.
