There is a new movie out about Afrikaners…I know… I can already see Afrikaners cringe, because every time they are portrayed in Hollywood movies, they are the “baddies”, like in the ridiculous Lethal Weapon 2, where they were smuggling Kruger Rands and drugs and God knows what else.
But this movie is not from Hollywood, it is from The Netherlands. It is the story of Ingrid Jonker, one of our most famous poets who drowned herself at the age of 32 way back in 1965.
The director is Paula van der Oest. And the producer is Arry Voorsmit.
Apparently they have done eight years of research before they decided to make the movie…if one can even call it that, because all it is, is another stick to beat Afrikaners and to beat Nationalism in general, in short a propaganda piece against Afrikaner Nationalism…once again.
It is really starting to get boring now.

Who was Ingrid Jonker?
As I have said, Ingrid Jonker was a brilliant poet, but she was mentally very troubled. She came from a typical Afrikaner farmer family in the Kimberley area and was brought up on strict Calvinistic values. Her parents separated before she was even born. Her mother moved back in with her grandparents.
First her grandparents died, then her mother died, so she and her sister had to move in with her father, Dr. Abram Jonker. At the time he was happily married with his third wife and had children with her. When Ingrid and her sister moved in they were treated as outsiders.
Dr. Jonker was a highly educated man. He studied amongst other things Greek and held a doctorate in literature. He was a distinguished journalist as well as a high ranking civil servant in the National Party, responsible for amongst other things, censure. He also edited the Huisgenoot, a weekly magazine that was so successful that it later became You (for English South Africans) and Drum (for black South Africans).
His highly talented daughter started writing poems at the age of 6. By 16 she was in correspondence with D.J Opperman, arguably the greatest Afrikaans poet of all time, professor at both the University of Cape Town and professor of Afrikaans at the University of Stellenbosch.
Ingrid Jonker attended the prestigious Wynberg Girls High School in Cape Town.
Ingrid Jonker was in and out of mental institutions such as Valkenberg in Observatory, Cape Town. She even underwent electroshock therapy.
Her poem, The">http://dustymuffin.wordpress.com/2007/10/13/die-kind-ingrid-jonker/">The Child can be read here in both Afrikaans and English. It was read by Nelson Mandela as an address to parliament. That already should make one sit up straight.
The poem is about the Apartheid police killing a black child. Truth is that Ingrid Jonker at the time did not understand the concept of “Peoples War” as founded by Mao Tse Tung and later perfected by General Giap in Vietnam. Nobody did…except the ANC.
She did not understand that sending women and children into the front line was a fundamental, and evil Marxist revolutionary strategy designed to take the fight out of the opponent.
Nevertheless, Ingrid married her first husband Pieter Venter and had a child, Simone. She soon separated from him and had strings of relationships with all and sundry, mostly married and older men like writers Jack Cope and AndrĂŞ P Brink, currently professor in English Literature at the University of Cape Town.
She fell pregnant not knowing who the father was and had the child aborted, something that was illegal in Apartheid South Africa. Make no mistake, Ingrid Jonker was no angel. She was an attractive, educated and highly promiscuous woman who slept with all who showed an inkling of interest, as the movie also shows.
Her father even called her a slut to her face.
The moment she felt “unloved” by one she would jump into bed with another.
She was filled with guilt on the one hand and on the other filled with issues towards her father who denounced her writings in front of parliament.
Her poems were therefore far from sincere. She did not really care about blacks or their struggle. She simply saw being anti-Apartheid as a means of getting back at her father and rebelling against the establishment of the time.
This shows the troubled mind of a leftist poet. On the one hand she was all concerned about human rights and a dead black child, yet she had no problem to abort her own unborn white child. She wrote poems about black children being killed, but never spared any sympathy for the countless white children and their mothers killed by ANC terrorist bombings. She wrote about love towards other people, but hated her own people and her father.
Ingrid Jonker was what Lenin called liberals…”Useful idiots”
When her various lovers all saw through her, they abandoned her, and eventually she felt herself unworthy of love. On the night of 19 July 1965 she walked into the waves at Three Anchor Bay, Cape Town and drowned herself.
That is the underlying goal of all these liberals. Self destruction, but before they do that they want to destruct society around them. To understand this mindset I recommend the book by Jamie Glasov, United in Hate: The Left's Romance with Tyranny and Terror (2009).
But my gripe is not with Ingrid Jonker and her life during the sex drugs and Rock & Roll, Vietnam era.
This is a review about the film, not her life although the film is indeed about her life.
The film is an all Dutch production with the leading actors all Dutch. Carice van Houten stars as Ingrid Jonker.
South Africa actually produced exceptional actors that made it big in Hollywood. Charlize Theron, Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy), Alice Krige (Chariots of fire, The Borg Queen in Star Trek) and Marius Weyers.
Yet in this production about Afrikaners they did not choose any Afrikaners in the leading cast. Not a single word of Afrikaans is spoken in the movie. It is all English with Dutch subtitles.
What is of great concern to me is the choice of actor who portrays Ingrid Jonker’s father. He is none other than the brilliant actor Rutger Hauer.
Rutger Hauer is a Dutch actor who made it big in Hollywood and famous for his portrayal of a seriously disturbed psychopathic killer in movies like “Nighthawks” and “The Hitcher” amongst many others.
His acting as Ingrid Jonker’s father in “Black Butterflies” is absolutely brilliant and professional. He even gets the accent down to a tee… something that amateurs like Leonardo de Caprio in Blood Diamond can only dream of.
In reality Rutger Hauer is a far cry from the characters he portrays in his films. He makes the entire movie.
Nevertheless, there is no doubt in my mind that the movie “Black Butterflies” wants to portray screwed up liberal white Afrikaners as the heroes and nationalist Afrikaners as the villains.
Do not be like Ingrid Jonker’s father…be a promiscuous mental case like her.
The choice of Rutger Hauer as Ingrid Jonkers’s father is a perfect example of how the Dutch film producers would like the world to see white Afrikaners…As psychopathic Nazi like individuals.
The film is a far cry from reality.
During the Second World War, the majority of white South Africans fought against Nazism. Almost 200,000 men signed up voluntarily and more than 3000 were killed in the war fighting Hitler and Mosulini… During this time South Africa allowed thousands of Jews in as place of refuge.
During Apartheid Jews were never under any threat, because the Boers never forgot that Jews were fighting side by side with them against British Imperialism in the Anglo Boer War.
When the Yom Kippur war broke out in 1973 and the whole world stood against Israel, South Africa was the only country who immediately stood by Israel. We sent them spare parts for their Mirage fighter planes.
Our top General Magnus Malan flew to the Syrian border to lend a hand where he could. The National Party government of South Africa relaxed exchange controls so that South African Jews could freely transfer money to the Israeli war effort.
Together with the Israeli scientist we developed 20 Atomic weapons and tested them in the South Indian ocean.. Our officers trained with their best and they came to train with ours. Would Israel support Nazi’s?
Would Nazi’s support Israel? Would Israel ever assist Nazis to develop weapons of mass destruction? No, Never. It just shows that the Israelis understood the difference between Nationalism and National Socialism.
Therefore one has to call into question the motives of this Dutch film about Afrikaners.
While Afrikaners were dying fighting Nazism in World War two, the Dutch monarch, Prince Bernard was a Nazi SS officer and later the founder of the Bilderberg Group. Two weeks after the Nazis bombed Rotterdam back into the Stone Age the Dutch came out in full support of the Nazis. How sick is that?
During Apartheid the Dutch Journalist and Communist mattress Conny Braam was incessantly against white Afrikaners and actively supporting the ANC in their bombing campaign against white women and children.
During the 1995 Srebrenica">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Srebrenica_massacre">Srebrenica massacre Dutch soldiers were hanging about with walkmans on their ears while Serbs were raping Bosnian women and killing babies…yet today they want to try Ratko Mladic in the Netherlands?
Maybe the Dutch should sweep in front of their own doors first before they try to make bullshit movies about Afrikaners.
This is the double standards of the Dutch that we as Afrikaners have to deal with today. It hurts to see the Dutch allowing members of their former colonies like Indonesia, Surinam, Aruba and Curacao in, yet the Afrikaners of South Africa are shown a closed door.
When I was at school I had to study Dutch books like “De Onrustzaaier” and Flemish short stories, because Afrikaans and Dutch is about 90% the same language and closer related to each other than North German to Bavarian.
Yet today the Dutch with their liberal policies choose to vilify their kinsman in South Africa, and rather allow Moroccans, Turks and Gypsies in…
The most laughable hypocrisy is that they actually have the world court in Den Haag (The Hague)…can you believe it?
