Slit ThroatTwo men will appear in court on Friday for allegedly slitting the throat of occupational therapist, Miranda O'Dell, 48, during an attempted house robbery in Krugersdorp, Gauteng police said.

Inspector Odette van Staden said the two men gained access to house in Noordheuwel, Krugersdorp on Wednesday around 2pm.

The men first assaulted the O'Dell's 17-year-old daughter Alicia after she arrived home.

She was unconscious in a bedroom when her O'Dell arrived at the house a while later.

O'Dell was overpowered and stabbed several times before the men slit her throat. She died at the scene.

A mother and child who were waiting in the occupational therapy office on the same premises contacted the police who arrived at the scene within minutes.

"One of the men was hiding in the ceiling and the police arrested him," Van Staden said.

"A second suspect was arrested later in the evening in Munsieville.

"They will appear in court today [Friday] on charges of murder and attempted house robbery."

Freedom Front Plus Plus provincial leader Jaco Mulder, who is an acquaintance of the family,  said government was failing the constitution by not being able to guarantee its citizens' safety.

"The FF Plus therefore demands that government starts to apply influx control on the citizens of neighbouring countries to South Africa and that the freedom of movement of potential criminals are restricted," he said.

Mulder said the inability of government to exert law enforcement was a direct cause of tragic incidents in Krugersdorp.

"This government is sacrificing us for the sake of a dream which turned into a nightmare because of their own doing," Mulder said.
