A man and his wife were found murdered in their Brighton home in Port Elizabeth on Thursday, Eastern Cape police said.Inspector Hazel Mqala said a friend of the deceased woman went to visit her at the couple's Dora Street home between 10am and 11am.
The friend noticed the outside light of the house still on and found the front door ajar. When she pushed the door open she found her friend lying face down on the floor. The woman called and shouted but received no response. The husband was lying on the couch.
The friend then decided to call the couple's daughter, in her twenties, who arrived at the house and contacted police.
The pair had been killed by a shot to the head. The woman had a bullet wound to the back of the head, the man had one on the right side of his head.
Police arrived around 4pm.
Nothing appeared to be missing from the house. The television was still on when police arrived. The man was 47, his wife 43.
No arrests had been made. A case of double murder was being investigated, said Mqala.
