Telkom has terminated the services of its chief of operations, Motlatsi Nzeku, with immediate effect, the listed communications giant said in a statement on Friday.
Telkom said its new organisational structure had been "vigorously opposed by Nzeku to the point where his role had become extremely divisive and counter-productive to the progressive functioning of Telkom going forward".
There were also "tangible indications" that recent actions by Nzeku had resulted in reputational damage amounting to defamation of Telkom and its leadership, the company said.
According to Telkom, it also faced many service delivery challenges, "a portfolio that resided directly under Nzeku's leadership."
