Police captured a bank robber in Brixton after his accomplices drove away without him, Gauteng police said on Saturday.Shortly after 10am on Friday, police noticed a man carrying a handgun running alone on High street in Brixton, said Superintendent Thembi Nkwashu.
The man was one of six who had just robbed a bank. As they were fleeing, five of the robbers piled into the getaway car leaving the sixth behind.
The robber was trying to escape on foot when police spotted him. He was also being followed by a member of the public who was in the bank.
Police seized a 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off, a bag of cellphones, cash and a panic alarm stolen from the bank.
