Bafana Bafana must "apply the militancy and radicalism" of the 1976 student uprising while playing in the Confederations Cup, the Young Communist League (YCL) said on Saturday."We call on Bafana Bafana to apply the militancy and radicalism of the June 16 martyrs on the field of play by performing well and doing the country proud," said YCL spokesman Castro Ngobese in a statement.
Bafana Bafana's presence in international soccer was, according to Ngobese, the "direct result" of the efforts of the students and the youth.
"Therefore, Bafana owes the June 16 martyrs and the youth of our country a well deserved performance and victory as part of unleashing our power and influence in advancing the country's major goals," he said.
The Confederations Cup games kick-off on Sunday.
