The ANC's regional office in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal, was robbed of three computers and trashed on Saturday night in what the party thinks may be more than criminal activity, a party spokesman said on Sunday. In addition to the thefts, doors and windows were smashed and the office photocopier and furniture were also damaged, provincial secretary Senzo Mchunu said.
"We believe that those who stole the computers were looking for vital and sensitive information on election strategy and tactics, particularly with the ANC having the best strategy in the upcoming election as the office was also left turned upside down," his statement read.
He condemned the "blatant act of sabotage" and urged the police to get to the bottom of the matter.
