President Kgalema Motlanthe and Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will host the Socialist International Commission for a Sustainable World Society in the Western Cape on Monday."The agenda of the meeting will, amongst others, focus on Africa's experience in tackling global warming and climate change," said foreign affairs department spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa in a statement on Sunday.
The continent's perspective on talks to deal with the global economic crisis would also be discussed at the meeting in Kleinmond. ANC president Jacob Zuma was also expected to attend.
The Socialist International is a worldwide organisation of social democratic, socialist and labour parties. Its current members are 170 political parties and organisations, including the ANC.
The meeting in South Africa formed part of a programme of activities for 2009 which would also see meetings of the commission in China, Washington DC and at the UN headquarters in New York.
