A 66-year-old farmer was shot dead at his home in Witfontein, Bronkhorstspruit police said on Monday.Spokesman Johannes Jafta said the man who was alone at his house was shot in the chest by unknown gunmen on Sunday around 8pm.
Police were not ruling out the possibility of a house robbery because the house had been ransacked.
"His cellphone and two firearms were taken from the house. His body was discovered by his son the following day," said Jafta.
No one was arrested. Police are investigating a case of murder.
